What Are Adhesives In Manufacturing?

Adhesives are materials or substances which are used in sticking products, materials, and surfaces

together, making it impossible to separate the substances.

Taking into consideration there are many adhesives- they are mostly used in manufacturing. These adhesives in manufacturing are, fevibond, anabond, M seal, silica gel, floor marking tape, locktite, etc.

There are various uses of adhesives in various manufacturing industries, like-

  1. Door and window assembly- Adhesives are used in door and window manufacturing. These can be used in doors and windows are made of wood, glass, or PVC. Different adhesives are used to bond different surfaces.
  2. Transportation industry- Adhesives are used here in manufacturing of parts for cars, trains, airplanes, etc.
  3. HVAC industry- These are used in the HVAC industry, be it for internal components or external components. Industrial adhesives are used to bond structural components.
  4. Construction industry- Adhesives are used in the construction material manufacturing industry for a couple of years. From solid to hot melt adhesives are used here. Different adhesives are used for hybrid construction, polyurethane construction, etc.
  5. Prefabricated house industry- The uses are similar to that of the construction industry, as various components here require various types of adhesives. For example- these can be used in sub flooring, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.
  6. Packaging industry- Here adhesives are specifically designed for cardboard, plastic, or wood. This industry usually uses EVA hot melt adhesives. These are ideal for assembling, labelling, paper processing and more.
  7. Security tapes- Evidence tapes require strong adhesives which would leave evidence of tampering, so usually hot melt adhesives are used here.
  8. Agriculture industry- These are used in the manufacturing of agricultural equipment which includes silos, spreading equipment, etc. Here the priority is that the adhesive should be strong enough to hold heavy parts together. They are also used to fasten screws and bolts to prevent them from loosening.
  9. Woodworking industry- This industry is one of the largest industries from the list. Wood is used almost everywhere, ranging from kitchen to bathroom cabinets to commercial furniture. Adhesives are widely used here. Hence there are different types of adhesives used for different types of wooden furniture.
